|Link with West Yorkshire Police on Domestic Violence
Dear Parent / Carer
The school has been asked to cooperate in a new initiative that will run jointly between schools and West Yorkshire Police. The project has been established to support children who are resident in households where there are incidents of domestic violence abuse. We know that children can be significantly physically or emotionally hurt by being either present in the house or directly witnessing an incident of domestic abuse.
The domestic abuse school notification project has been designed to provide confidential notification to schools on any incidents of domestic abuse which occur within a child’s household that might have an impact on a child whilst they are in school.
The project will ensure that Mrs Chadwick, the school’s designated safeguarding lead, is trained to allow her to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, and ensure that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in or witnessed a domestic abuse incident.
Once notified, staff will not necessarily get involved or mention anything to the child in school. We will merely be informed of issues happening at home, which may affect a child’s learning and behaviour in school.
If you would like further support or information about domestic abuse please go towww.westyorkshire.police.uk/domesticviolence
If you would like to discuss the matter further with me, please book a time to see me.
|We have had some snowy / icy mornings recently and are likely to face a few more before Spring arrives.
Please see below our snowy morning procedures.
· If there is some doubt about school being open we will make a post at 7am on the school website, on our facebook page as well as text you the decision via your phones.
· We take advice from staff members who live in Bolton Woods about the condition of the roads in and approaching Bolton Woods. It may be that the roads are still frozen and have not been gritted, in which case we may announce a delayed start where the school will open at 10am rather than 9am. This is to give staff time to reach school and prepare the site for the safety of staff and pupils.
Mrs Aspinall will be leaving us at half term to take up a post working in a day nursery. Mrs Aspinall has worked for us for the past 6 years and we thank her for her many contributions to the life of the school and her input into those pupils who have been in her classes throughout the years. We wish her well in her next professional challenge.
