Look at the story board for the movie P is for Psycho and answer the following questions in your book. Once you have answered them we can discuss what you have written.
Important notice: some of the codes they use are different to the codes you have been taught. They mean basically the same thing as the codes you have been taught. If you get stuck ask.
-
How does the storyboard establish where we are?
-
What is happening in these opening shots?
-
How has the person who has done the story board given us the information as to where we are and what is happening without showing us much of the character's face or using words?
-
This is a much more detailed story board than most you have seen, on it you will notice arrows beside the drawings telling us which frame to go to next. There are also arrows in the drawings. How can the arrows in the drawings help the person shooting the film?
-
If you were to change this scene what would you do? (You don't have to answer this question because we're going to talk about it but before you finish, watch the video below to see how someone else has interpreted this scene differently).

To give you an idea of how you can shoot this scene differently to the story board you have just seen you can follow this link to a modified version by a film student on you tube.
