3/2/2010 - Bagel Cutting Fun
How do you cut a bagel into a joined up ring?
On Tuesday a group of budding mathematicians from middle and upper school met after school for an unusual topological challenge - slice a bagel into two interlinked rings! It was pretty mind-bending stuff, but some of them managed in the end.
The extra curricular session was part of a scheme to provide opportunities for students with ability in specific subject areas to stretch their minds and increase their skill.
So how do you cut a bagel into a joined up ring? If you see Mr Kershaw and his group, ask them.
