Science at Bradford Christian School is taught from early years right up to GCSE level following a Biblically based framework and curriculum developed over a number of years. Our working definition of science is:
“Science is an investigation using the resources we are created with to understand God’s creation in relation to Him, and to develop useful things from creation for the benefit and blessing of mankind, especially in furthering their relationship to God.”
We have a well equipped laboratory where practical sessions in all three sciences are carried out. Our laboratory technician makes it possible for us to do such things as: investigating the effect of antibiotics on the growth of bacteria; performing heart-lung dissections; carrying out acid-base titrations; investigating radioactivity; studying plastics and many other exciting experiments.
Primary pupils are taught by their class teacher on a topic by topic basis.

Middle school puils have at least one session in the laboratory every week.
Upper school pupils spend considerably more time in the lab. GCSE students are set in two teaching groups, with set two following a double award practical-based GCSE course and set one taking two GCSEs over two years on a more academically oriented course.
We are keen to encourage pupils to think for themselves and have benefited from several students, past and present, willing to engage in further research work guided by the Head of Science.
