THRIVE

The Purpose of Thrive
the Parent Teachers Association at Bradford Christian School

Social events:

To organise events which enhance the community life of the school [therefore it should also be spiritually edifying as well as socially edifying.]

Hospitality:

Support within the school to serve the schools wider profile and vision.

Hospitality for the various events within the school such as Open Days and the various parental evenings the school hosts.

Also hosting visitors to the school and day conferences, etc.

Fund raising:

Parents desire to raise funds for the school which would directly benefit their children through an enrichment of the school's equipment and facilities.

The school has also traditionally been involved in overseas missions, noticeable in Romania and India. Both these projects have also been grateful to receive gifts from the school.

Site maintenance:

In our efforts to 'fill the school', it is important that the site looks the best it can, and this needs constant effort and attention.

Student enrichment:

Certain members of the parents body have also put on great end of term activities for Primary children where they have been able to enjoy craft activities making inexpensive gifts for family at Easter and Christmas etc.

The shape of Thrive as of September 2010

Meetings on the first Monday of each half term to include the Core Team, chaired by Mr P. Moon initially for this academic year.

The Core team to be expanded by invitation of the school to include a representative parent from each year group.

The Thrive group could then meet in smaller groups to plan specific events under the 5 areas agreed as the purpose of Thrive.

When groups of Thrive parents meet, brief minutes to be feedback to Mr Moon.

All major decision to be made at the half termly Thrive Core meetings.

We are always looking for people to help with the work of Thrive, either through serving on the Core TEam or being available to draw on for projects and events.

Please let Lisa Wells or Alison Riley know of your interest and willingness to get involved.
