The Week Ahead – Week commencing 3rd October
Quick Stop Notices
- Primary – Please make sure you send your child to school with a coat. The weather is changing and becoming more unpredictable. Children need a warm and waterproof coat for Autumn/winter. We will be outside in all weathers unless it is torrential, so please make sure you child has a coat to come to school with.
- Parents Meetings this year – Parent meeting – during the week beginning 7th November, traditional parent teacher meeting to discuss target grades and progress. Monday to Thursday, 3:30 – 4:30pm
- Middle and Upper School – Parent Meeting 1 – Week beginning 7 November. Following the Autumn 1 Progress Check we will have a traditional parent meeting giving you chance to meet with your child’s teachers to discuss progress. This will take place on either 3.30 – 5.30 on Tuesday and 7.00 – 9.00 on Thursday, whichever works best for you.

Classroom News
Y7/8 trip to London
‘Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.” so wrote the enthusiastic Dr Johnson of early dictionary fame. Having made this trip many times before, our enthusiasm as a staff team for our Year 7&8 visit to the capital was undiminished. The enthusiasm from our students was far greater, as you can imagine. Everyone made our 6:00am deadline and we set off on our adventure. Our aim was to arrive at our scout camp in Barnet, quickly unload and then head off into town to our first appointment at the House of Parliament.
Things didn’t quite go to plan and we had to nurse one of our mini buses across country to our destination.We didn’t quite meet our parliamentary appointment, but everything else went according to plan and we took in the impressive London Skyline from the river and then overhead from the London Eye. We even managed an extra stop at Buckingham Palace; our students genuinely keen to see the late Queen’s home having seen it featured so much on television the previous week with her state funeral.
Tuesday saw visits to The Globe theatre for a Shakespeare workshop; the Tower of London for a tour lead by our own knowledgeable Mrs March; MadameTussards, always a favourite with our students; tea out at McDonalds in Leicester Square and then on to the fabulous Lion King musical at the Lyceum Theatre.
In and amongst all of these stellar attractions there was the fascination of using the underground and then having plenty of free time to explore the woods back at Frith Grange Scout Camp.
It’s always great to get away with our students and watch them interact with each other and have all these wonderful experiences for the first time. Thanks to them for their good behaviour and cheerful disposition on a busy, busy programme. Thanks also to colleagues Mrs March, Miss Verity and longtime volunteer Mchelle Spence who kept us excellently fed and watered.
Our limping minibus finally gave up the ghost on the way home, but we all arrived home in style, courtesy of two comfortable taxi’s provided by the insurance policy. ” Tired of London?’ Not yet for this little band of happy tourists!

This week I want to say a big thank you to our staff. Residentials are a wonderful opportunity for students, and wouldn’t happen so cheaply without our staff – who give up days off, drive mini buses, cook, work night shifts after a busy day, and really do give all they have. Meanwhile those back at school give up planning time to cover lessons, breaks and lunches. Thanks to all who are praying for the staff – this week our London team felt uplifted in prayer and grateful for it.
Thanks for accommodating us as we transition the office staff in new roles. Thanks for the grace and patience shown as Mrs Pickles and Mrs Thomson learn new skills.
