    A few important reminders

    Car Parking

The safety of our pupils is our absolute priority. We have noticed an increase in cars parking on pavements and near junctions, which significantly reduces visibility for children crossing the road.

    Please remember:

    • Do not block driveways: Even for a "quick drop-off," this causes significant frustration for our neighbors.

    • Keep pavements clear: Pedestrians should not be forced into the road to get around parked vehicles.

We understand that parking near the school is limited, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping the area safe and stress-free for our children and our neighbors alike.

Please also help us maintain good relationships with our neighbours by responding with Grace and Humilty if approached with regard to your parking. Try not to get involved in arguments are "this for that" altercations.

We are activley encouraging our neighbours to seek police and community advice to which they have full right to do so. However, we can play our part in helping keep on-street parking free by mainting good relationships with our neighbours.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Uniform

As the weather warms up, here's a quick reminder of our uniform and make-up policies:

    Uniform Policy:

    • Full summer school uniform must be worn at all times, including PE uniform on PE days
    • Pupils may wear summer uniform (polo shirts, summer dresses for girls)
    • Trainers should be black
    • Non-uniform items should not be worn to school
    • All uniform items should be clearly labelled with your child's name
    • For Year 11: They can wear their own clothes, but Friday rules still apply regarding make-up and jewellery

    Make-Up Policy:

    • Make-up, including nail polish, is not permitted for any pupils in middle school
    • This includes subtle or "natural" make-up
    • False eyelashes and nail extensions are not permitted
    • Staff will ask middle school pupils to remove make-up if worn to school
    • In upper school, only subtle make-up is allowed

    Why these policies matter:

    • They create a sense of community and belonging
    • They remove distractions from learning
    • They reflect our values of modesty and simplicity
    • They ensure all pupils can participate fully in all activities

If you have any questions about our uniform or make-up policies, or if there are financial barriers to purchasing uniform items, please contact the school office in confidence.

    Morning Drop-Off & Playground Safety

Please remember that the school playground is not open until a teacher is on duty.

    • Supervision begins: Between 8:40 am and 8:45 am. If children need to arrive earlier than this please book them into breakfast club with Mrs Virgo - it opens at 7:55am and costs £3.00 a day.
    • Important: Please do not leave children unattended on the playground before this point. Staff are in essential meetings inside the building until duty begins.

    🎓 Classroom 👨‍🏫 News

    🌳 Duke of Edinburgh 🎒

Students years 9 and 10 undertook their Bronze and Silver Expeditions this week. All ten walked from school to Low Wood, just north of Keighley, where they camped overnight before splitting up, with the Bronze walkers heading back to school whilst the Silvers continued on to Blackhills Scout Centre for another night of camping before returning to school via Cottingley. Bronze walked an impressive 30km (19 miles) whilst the Silvers hiked an astounding 50km (31 miles). The students were brilliant throughout, keeping their spirits high even when they were exhausted. A delayed start on Tuesday led to a late finish, so the Silvers determined to start early on Wednesday and romped home at a cracking pace, skipping lunch and powering back to school two hours earlier than planned. They spent the remainder of the afternoon drying and packing down the tents ready for next year's expedition. Mr Kwon, Mrs Ryan and Mr Kershaw monitored the expeditions from a distance, as well as camping overnight, and were impressed with the students' independence and camaraderie.

    ⚽️ World Cup 2026 non-uniform Day

    ⚽️ World Cup 2026 non-uniform Day

On Tuesday, our brilliant Year 7 and 8 students took to the stage at St George’s Hall to participate in a collaborative playmaking festival. Working alongside several local schools and colleges, they helped bring a unique, joint production of Shakespeare's Hamlet to life.

Incredibly, every single student remembered their lines! Tackling Shakespearean language is no easy feat, making this a truly remarkable achievement. While the entire group was fantastic, a few individual performances deserve a special shout-out:

    • Neorah & Nathan, who both stepped into the spotlight and did a fantastic job portraying the complex role of Hamlet.
    • Nathaniel, who gave an exceptionally well-delivered performance as The Ghost.

It was a long, demanding day at the theatre, but our students rose to the occasion magnificently. Their behavior throughout the day was absolutely exemplary. They set a wonderful example for the other schools and demonstrated an outstanding work ethic. We could not be prouder of how they conducted themselves both on and off the stage.

Thank you to all the students for their hard work, dedication, and for making the school so incredibly proud!

    📰 Headteacher's Message

    Our Mission

To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.

    Our Vision

To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

Rooted in Community: Celebrating a Week of Fruitfulness at BCS 🌟

    Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the weekend, I wanted to take a moment to look back on what has been an exceptionally vibrant, busy, and moving week at Bradford Christian School. There have been a few public emotions!

Our core vision as a school is growing lives that bear fruit, and our daily prayer is to cultivate a Christian community rich in character, faith, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We believe that education goes hand-in-hand with developing godly character, resilience, and a heart for others. Looking across the school over the last few days, it has been beautiful to see those mission values leap off the pages and come to life in our students.
Here are just a few ways our community bore fruit this week:

🏔️ Faith & Resilience on the D of E Trail

Our Duke of Edinburgh participants and volunteers faced the challenges of their expeditions with remarkable resilience and teamwork. Out on the trail, "knowledge" transforms into practical "wisdom," and students build true character as they learn the meaning of lifting one another up when the hills get steep. We are incredibly proud of their perseverance and grateful to the team who stepped in to check routes, shop for blister plasters, and offer words of encouragement.

🎭 Wisdom and Creativity at St George's Hall

On Wednesday, some of our Year 7 and 8 Playmakers team took to the stage at St George's Hall, after a half term of practice with a visit from the RSC. Watching our pupils step out of their comfort zones and perform with such confidence was a masterclass in personal growth. This kind of experiential learning builds an understanding of their own gifts and a deeper appreciation for the creative arts, showing just how multi-dimensional education at BCS truly is.

🕊️ Character and Understanding at our Barmitzvah Celebration

Wednesday evening was a p special milestone as we gathered for our Barmitzvah celebration. Under the leadership of Miss Hutcheson and Mrs Bullen, and beautifully including students from Year 8, it was a spectacular showcase of what makes our school unique.
It was moving to hear our young people share their personal testimonies. They spoke powerfully about their passions, and also how they have learned to listen to views completely different from their own, displaying a mature, Christ-like character that seeks understanding over division. Through exploring these rich traditions, the children also shared how they have deepened their faith and learned so much more about the heart and character of God. It was a stunning illustration of a community rooted firmly in faith. "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce." — Jeremiah 29:5

Every event, every lesson, and every shared laugh this week has been a way of planting those gardens. We aren't just teaching subjects; together with you, we are nurturing young people to be rooted in character so they can withstand the storms of life and bear fruit that lasts.

    📅 Looking Ahead:

As we look to the final weeks of the school year, we have many more opportunities to celebrate community together, including our Summer Fayre on Saturday 11 July. We hope you will join us!
Thank you for your continued partnership, your prayers, and for entrusting your children to us. We pray you all have a restful and highly blessed weekend.
    Warmest blessings,
    Jane
