Forest Schools
This week our AP students looked at population variation of plant species. How many buttercups, daisies, clover, dandelion, plantain & "Yorkshire Fog" can you find in a quarter of a square metre?
We then graphed our results and thought about what plant requirements lead to population variation (sunlight, shade, water & competition).
Then we sat on the grass with our eyes closed and our other senses open, whilst Ms Grintals led us in a reflection on the need for personal space, times of quiet, and the positive effects of immersing ourselves in greenery.
Visitors from North Korea
Last week we welcomed 4 North Korean visitors who have escaped from North Korea and now are part of Freedom Speakers International.

Headteacher's Message
Our Mission
To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.
Our Vision
To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
You will probably have read about the High Court's decision on the VAT challenge, which was dismissed on Friday, June 13, 2025. The content clearly states:
"We can now confirm that on Friday, June 13, 2025, the High Court dismissed this legal challenge. This means that the government's policy to apply the standard rate of 20% VAT to independent school fees, which came into effect on January 1, 2025, has been upheld."
I am disappointed in the outcome, and recognise that this is a challenging time for our school and our families. We have worked hard to balance our budget, and are confident that we are in a good place, despite challenges. However, I do call on everyone who prays to continue to pray for our school. Some families can't afford the VAT, and we have received some donations towards helping them. However, this fund is limited, and has now been shared out.
I want to thank the families who fought on our behalf - you may have seen Stephen White as he was a visible part of the challenge, and there are others who have fought. Thanks to those staff who have forfeited a salary increase, and to those staff and families who have given towards bursaries. Thanks to churches across the city who have sent us cheques, bank transfers, and other gifts to support us. Thanks to our newly formed PTFA who faithfully fundraise.
I really do appreciate all who have chosen to stay at our school, and the sacrifices made to do so. Thank you all. BCS is a Christian community, and many parts of the community have come together to keep our Christian school very much alive.
