Visit from Rev Andy Bowerman, Dean of Bradford Cathedral
Rev Andy Bowerman, the Dean of Bradford Cathedral, came in to talk to Middle School students about their theme for this term: Peace and Bradford.
He gave students three gifts:
A 'wedding hat': Andy wore this to a Muslim wedding which reminds him of unity - this is to remind us to pray for the Muslim community in Bradford.
A candle: to represent the impact conflict in the wider world has on our City. The colour blue reminds us of Ukraine and when lit the colour yellow made it look like the Ukraine flag. Children guessed correctly that around 140 languages are spoken in Bradford. Candles help us to focus when we don't quite know how to pray. We can think about light and how Jesus' light brings peace and healing. We can remember that Jesus said 'you are the light of the world'- we can make a difference- we have his light within us.
A wooden cross: Two weeks ago Rev Bowerman went to Pakistan. It can be difficult to be a Christian and he supports both Christians and Muslims in bringing peace to their communities. Last year Andy visited a Christian community that had been destroyed by being burnt down. On his visit this year the people gave him a cross made out of the houses and churches that were destroyed as a reminder of the hope that Jesus brings.
The children wrote some Haikus about these gifts and thought about war and peace.

Rememberance Day poem
Tragic Times
“Tragic times, History is quite the mystery
Comrades from another unit well trained
Fallen or discharged, your support must be appreciated,
Many aren’t expected, nothing is plenty
People from behind warriors have suffered,
Not everything in life will be a guaranteed success,
Some have been mentally scarred,
Everything will always come back as a great distress
Not only people, but animals
Killing other species as if its happy new years
You could say those evil are animals,
We leave the beauty of nature alone in the next year
Not only was this era a horrible mix with the nazis
Hope them the best of holidays up above
Poor souls were horribly treated and everyone expects they can fight?
They can rest easy, hope you can fly like a dove
And everyone in between, thank you for your services
We respect everything you’ve protected what people made a fuss
You may rest easy lads and lasses, tragic times”

Headteacher's Message
Our Mission
To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.
Our Vision
To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
How many times do we compare ourselves to those around us, seeing small glimpses of their lives and wondering how they don't seem as overwhelmed as us. For me, it took me a while before I realised God didn't want me to compare myself to others, he needed me to be the person he created.
The truth is that we only get a small glimpse of others' lives, and we see it through our own filters. Many of the people who seem to be sailing through could also be feeling frazzled, uncertain and tired. Their ducks may not be in the row we imagine.
God made us all as unique individuals, yet in his image. When we choose to walk with Christ we are not promised a perfect, easy life, but we are promised that God will be with us always, and his spirit will guide us in truth. When our lives are a mess, his grace and mercy is all encompassing.
The only one we should seek to be like is Jesus, who keeps no record of our failures and does not compare us to our peers.
So this week, I am passing on a reminder to live for an audience of one - your Father, who understands every emotion known to humans!
