    🧑🏻‍🎓 Classroom News 📰

    Summer Fair 2025!

Last Saturday saw our first Summer Fair in over 5 years and was very well attended, even some locals came along! Thank you to everyone who helped plan, setup, run stalls, and pack down!

    Windrush

This week, our students celebrated Windrush with a special lunch cooked by Mrs Oxford's sister Val who both Afro-Carribbian.

    Playmakers festival

Year 7&8 performed a scene from King Lear at St George’s Hall this week.

They experienced vocal coaching and directing advice from the RSC team who came to visit us from Stratford. It was - as ever- a joy to work with other schools in the city from a variety of backgrounds. I’m slightly biased but I thought our BCS students stood out from the crowd!

Special recognition to Jaylan for his swan song, Ruby for perseverance, Noah and Nathan for very convincing performances and Angel for stepping out of her comfort zone. They do all deserve commendation though- a huge well done!

    AP Sports residential

Our AP students enjoyed a fantastic residential at the inclusive festival of sport this week, which was hosted by the university of Nottingham. They took part in climbing, table tennis, garden games, tag rugby, fitness and wheelchair basketball, and experienced coaching from an ex GB athlete. Much fun was had by everyone.

A message from the Stannett family

We set off early at 6.30am, Saturday morning (June 21st). James had a car load and the rest of us were dropped at the Liverpool dock by granda. Both groups got through security and we ended up reunited on the other side of the gates. The boat was a lot quieter than usual and so it was easier watching the children with plenty of space. They enjoyed the play area, the deck and the on board movies. We did a lot of jelly fish spotting too! We arrived into Belfast docks at 6.30 pm. James drove his car load to Newcastle directly whilst myself, Grace, Ruth, Timothy and Abigail had to navigate two buses and a run through the streets of Belfast between them with our bags and suitcases in tow. The second bus ride from Belfast to Newcastle was an hour. We felt very relieved when the Mountains of Mourne got closer and closer into view, when we could see the sea 🌊 and were nearly home. Everyone got to bed late that night but we all slept well! The following days were quite chaotic with the mix of tiredness, up and down emotions about leaving our friends and family in Yorkshire and the sheer chaos of clothes and stuff needing a place! In and amongst all this the children have still enjoyed trips to the front, paddling in rock pools, playing in the garden and swimming at the harbour. There was a lovely double rainbow over the pier on Esther and Timothy’s first swim. Grace and Esther have had a trial at Shimna college (the local secondary school) and both agreed that the activity weeks at BCS are definitely better managed! The highlight for them was going to ‘Go hydro’ just outside of Belfast. Abigail and Timothy enjoyed a morning taster at Newcastle Primary where both my grandparents taught. Despite some hiccups like the microwave blowing up and me loosing both our drivers licenses (james’ has been found!) we are finally getting on top of things and finding a place for everything! We are really thankful for the kindness, support and prayers of the BCS community and all they have done for us as a family over the last 13 years. We will continue to pray for you and keep in touch. Much love and God bless, Hannah, James and all the Stannett children xox

    Deputy Headteacher's Message

    Dear Parents
Some of you may already be aware that, after working at the school for 31 years, this will be my final year at BCS. I will, therefore, be leaving the school permanently in July 2025.
I will be the last of the original founding group to leave. It is really good to be able to do so knowing that the school, despite current challenges, is in a good place. It is also great to see a younger, committed staff team who will take up the baton of Christian Education in Bradford and make it relevant for the current generation.
It has been a privilege and a blessing to have had the opportunity to contribute to such a unique place but I am confident that, under Jane Prothero's leadership, the school can continue to prosper and to do good work in the Kingdom of God.
    Wishing you all every blessing,

    Headteacher's Message

    Our Mission

To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.

    Our Vision

To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

This week there has been a great deal of movement in and around school. Year 11 have now left school after completing GCSEs. They will be back for the Celebration evening on 10th July, where some of them will practice their leadership skills.
Year 9 and 10 are currently sitting end of year exams, they are half way through today. For some of them, it is the first time they have done any kind of formal exams, and it is challenging them.
EYFS had a trip to Ponderosa on Wednesday, driven and supported by a number of parent volunteers - a huge thank you to all.
Middle School attended Stemfest at Life Church, and had some great experiences of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Several of our Oaks and Acorns represented us  at an independent schools sports meet in Nottingham University. They stayed away from home, and had some wonderful sporting opportunities.
And many people attended the summer fair, organised by our committed PTFA. Thank you to this team who really do build community
The fun continues - please make sure you check the school calendar and your school emails - there is lots going on.
