21st November 2022 Week Ahead
The Week Ahead – Week commencing 21st November
Quick Stop Notices
- Please send your child to school with a warm coat, preferably with a hood.
- School Lunches can be ordered before 9am on a Monday for the week.
- Teachers are on duty each day from 8:45am and not before. Please don’t drop children off until a teacher is outside.
- Lost property – we are collecting a number of school jumpers, and a black hoodie between age 11 – 12 and 13 -14 PLEASE label uniform a biro name is fine. You may have one or two jumpers and blazers, but we have several. Our primary children often distinguish owners by sniffing them, this ability seems to wane in secondary!
- Hampers – A number of parents are organising a small Christmas fair on December 8th. Form groups have been asked to provide hampers (as was tradition pre covid) which will be raffled on the evening.
- A reminder to please park sensitively, even when dropping off or picking up for a few minutes. Our neighbours get frustrated when they can’t leave or enter their drive, or when cars are parked on corners obstructing their view.
- Our heating is on but we are cautious, children may need some extra layers, and definitely need a coat that can be fastened when outside. If it’s waterproof that’s even better, as we want to avoid the cabin fever of being inside all day long when it is a little wet.
- Angel costumes for the Christmas play. If you have an angel costume aged 7-9 which you are willing to donate or loan to school please drop it at the office or pass to Mrs Garcia.

Classroom News
- The children in Mrs March’s year 5/6 History class have been learning about the black death and had to present their medieval cure to the class. The children collected some very interesting facts about the black death and found some very strange cures that were used during this period. This is Dan and Nathan with Dan’s cure of bursting buboes to let the poison out. The presentations were fantastic and there was lots of audience participation throughout. Well done Year 5 and 6!
Headteacher’s Message
Our mission
To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.
Our Vision
To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
An extract from the Eulogy for Gill Moffatt whose funeral took place last Monday morning:
Gill’s working life actually began in nursing which is indicative of a caring and compassionate nature. She went on to work for Post Office Counters where she honed her administrative skills. She later managed the finances in her husband’s printing business before joining the school in the 1990s. Over the years her role and level of responsibility at Bradford Christian School gradually increased and she soon became an indispensable part of the team, overseeing the finances of an organisation with a substantial annual turnover in addition to the day-to-day running of a busy school office. Gill was so much more than an efficient bookkeeper and administrator: her caring nature was invariably evidenced in the concern she had for others and her support for those experiencing problems. She was especially kind and compassionate towards children who were in trouble or who had difficult lives.
Gill was a woman of simple faith. As a child she attended Great Horton Methodist Church which is where her and her husband, Dave, were eventually married. She later served as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader at St Luke’s Church in Eccleshill. Christian values of service, compassion, justice and endurance were very evident in Gill’s life and, like Jesus, she hated any form of religious hypocrisy or pretence.
It goes without saying she will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
