- Cake Orders – Thank you to those who ordered cakes. Our bakers have your orders and will have them ready for collection from school next week.
- Uniform
- Sale – please hand in any good quality, no longer needed, washed school uniform to the Office or Suzanne Wells. There will be a sale before the end of term.
- Marks and Spencer will be offering 20% discount on School wear from 4th July. Click here
- Summer School Uniform for Middle / Upper School. Blazers and school jumpers are optional. School trousers material knee length shorts in grey or black are acceptable. Mr Moon / Mr Prothero will make a day by day decision about whether ties need be worn in class, or whether top buttons of shirts can be opened. Please remember sunscreen, hat and water bottles.
- Summer School Uniform for Primary School. Smart black/grey shorts and white aertex for boys and summer dresses or smart black/grey skirt and white aertex for girls. Blue school jumper or cardigan. Black shoes are still required unless told otherwise, for trips etc. Shorts and t-shirt for PE. Please remember sunscreen, hat and water bottles
- Parking. Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking near school. Avoid parking on verges, driveways, corners and pavements. Please also avoid backing into driveways to turn around. The local residents have received a letter from the council asking them to photograph any incidents of inconsiderate parking.
- School Fees 2023/24. Many thanks to those Parents who have sent in their proof of income. For those who have not shared this information with us your monthly fees from September 2023 will be:
- £424 if you have 1 child in school
- £636 if you have 2 children in school
- £954 if you have 3 children in school
- plus any middle or upper school supplement.
- Please also note from September you will receive an invoice each month for fees and we will no longer accept fees in cash. All fees are to be paid be standing order on the 1st of each month

🎓Classroom News 👨🏻🏫
Boxing gloves, elephant ears and hawaiian flowers- typical attire for students doing Shakespeare. Oak class and year 5&6 played a scene each from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night to a full house at the Alhambra Studio Theatre this week. There was a good measure of anticipation, excitement and raw nerves- and that was just from the teachers. Well done to all involved!

Our Mission
To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.
Our Vision
To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
I was recently asked by a new governor what makes BCS special. This is a great question to ask me, and I could talk for hours. Being head of a Christian school, existing to fulfill a Christian vision and mission and to partner with parents is a huge privilege, and one I take very seriously. I love the fact that I work with colleagues who understand what we try to do, and a number of them are our ex students!
We want our school to be one which uses Micah 6 v 8 principles, to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, and part of our vision and mission is for everyone to serve others. There are so many examples every day of service. This week I have witnessed so many special things – amongst the normal and ordinary everyday things in school. We often take these for granted, but stepping back and really appreciating the relationships has been refreshing.
This week I witnessed Year 9 and 10 really caring for the little people in school, taking time and effort to engage with them and make them feel valued. It’s normal in BCS, the five year olds feel like they have 15 year old friends, which is great. They often hang around the gate in the morning and welcome the younger children.
I have seen students support each other in exams, with simple acts such as praying for each other, putting computers away for a friend, and encouraging one another in times of stress.
I have watched students buy snacks for friends, mediate between disagreements, and show leadership.
The icing on the cake was seeing our little year 1 and 2 children made thank you cards for their year 9 and 10 reading buddies – with accurate and identifiable drawings – including long lashes and long necks! These older children have read weekly with their young buddies, which is a joy to watch.
I often show new parents around, and ask the children to speak about what is good in our school. They often say being able to learn about faith, the relationships, friendships, kindness, acceptance and love.
We also had staff votes for whole school awards, and the nominations reflected many of the beautiful acts of service happening in our school, and the beautiful hearts behind them. Only one person will receive each award, but several have been nominated and are deserving.
Well done BCS community – you make my job a pleasure.
I hope to see everyone to celebrate our year on 13th July, 6pm at Sunbridge Road Mission. We will have time to reflect and celebrate this year in school.
Building Project
In July we are starting a building project, which involves demolishing Room 10 – the playground portacabin, and replacing it with a permanent structure including two classrooms. This work should hopefully be done by October half term.
The car park and bottom end of the playground will become a building site, meaning staff will be parked on the streets, and there will be no access through the big gate.
We will not be opening the gates for students until 8:45am each morning, when they will be directed through the side gate and around the long way into the playground. Please do not arrive earlier than this.
At the end of the day collection for primary children will stay the same, but for middle and upper students will be by the main entrance rather than by the large gate.
Please park carefully and thoughtfully, as spaces will be limited.
