Birthday Party
All are invited at 2pm on Friday 15th to join our celebrations – any help appreciated.
2pm until 3:30pm in the playground (weather permitting).
Formal learning will end at 2pm, and we will have a party to celebrate BCS being 30. There will be cake and fun and games.
Building Project / Parking
All on track for end of October, will be two classrooms, mainly for Maths and Science in middle and upper school, enabling us to develop our autism provision space. Thank you for being flexible with routes around school and respectful parking so as to keep good relations with our neighbours. Please be mindful that the local residents have received a letter from the council asking them to photograph any incidents of inconsiderate parking.

🥣Lunches🌭 – New Menu arrangement from September 2023
Lunches from September 2023 will be £1.25 per meal per day. Pudding option will be 50p
Puddings will be different each week so if your child isn’t fussy and would like pudding, you can order via MIS Parent Portal. However, you can also send your child with cash for puddings.

🎓Classroom News 👨🏻🏫
GCSE Trip to Stratford
On Wednesday GCSE literature students travelled down to Stratford upon Avon to see Macbeth, Shakespeare’s ‘Scottish play’ and one of their exam texts. Blistering temperatures made the 3 hour journey down challenging so we all enjoyed cooling down in the church where the Bard is buried. We ate dinner outside the iconic Royal Shakespeare Theatre building (the first public building in England designed by a woman).
As we took our seats in the audiotorium we could see shadowy figures moving about behind the stage and birds dropped to the floor as we chattered with anticipation. Silence fell and three murky figures emerged from the ‘ground’ of the stage. We were instantly enthralled by the story that unfolded before us. The thrust stage meant that we were clustered around the action as it happened and sitting in the Circle our eyes were level with characters who hovered in the air. Bagpipes created an eerie atmosphere, a huge flame suddenly burst up towards us and a re-written comedic scene brought light relief to the intensity. Scottish accents and tartan were mixed with electronic sounds and brightly coloured costumes.
As I cast my eyes on the students I saw gasps, winces, laughter and eager guesses about why certain choices had been made together with an incredible level of focus on a warm evening. “That was actually good” said one student as we left- praise indeed from someone who professes not to like Shakespeare. Thanks to parents for collecting their children at 1.30am and to the staff team for making it happen- it was worth every minute.

Welcome back everyone!
This week we watched the builders placing the cornerstone of the new classrooms. The orientation and angle of the cornerstone has to be exactly right for the rest of the building to work, and to stay level and plumb. Without a correctly placed cornerstone, the building simply wouldn’t work.
There are so many parallels between a building project and Christian faith. I love the song ‘Cornerstone’ which is written about having Christ as the cornerstone of faith
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
And I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
