    Black American Literature

Year 7&8 are looking at African American literature with Mrs Taylor in celebration of Black History Month. They've also been looking at the themes of racism and why it's so important to educate ourselves on this still very relevant issue. Books studied include To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

    Headteacher's Message

    Our Mission

To provide a holistic Christian education for all and to inspire discipleship.

    Our Vision

To be a Christian community in which everyone grows in character, faith, knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

We all recognise that teenagers can get a bad press at times, and it makes me so sad. Yes, they do make mistakes, and at times they do exasperate adults. However, they are also on a learning journey, and I delight that we can be part of that. I love seeing them grow and develop, and learn from their mistakes.

I have enjoyed reading the Year 11 reports this term, seeing how they all have an area of service as part of their leadership training. They lead younger students, keep school organised, help in PE, listen to readers, and really embrace service in school. Many of these students were in my first class at BCS when they were in Year 4, and watching them develop is a joy.

This week Year 10 students have been on work experience and the feedback has been incredible.

We have heard about their time keeping, initiative, manners, questions, reliability, politeness and hard work. From Waterstones to Clayton Pharmacy, The Overflowing Cup, Clayton Village Primary School, Impact Gamers, Stephen White Books and a placement in school, our students are appreciated.

We are often asked how we assess character development - these are just some of the ways we know that our students are on the right track. We know they don't always get it right, they, like us, are human beings.

I also acknowledge that positive, stable character development comes from spiritual growth. Without a firm understanding of God's love and justice, we as humans can only go so far. It has been great to see staff share how they share God's love and justice in their classes, giving opportunities for students to develop an understanding of Christian faith.

I love partnering with parents who have chosen our school for their children, and working with staff who are called to be here.

Thank you for your continued support of Bradford Christian School

    Have a Blessed Weekend!
